Here's what a review by Smallchief from Amazon says: "I used the "Rough Guide" for a visit to Romania in 2003. Traveling mostly by train, without any pre-arranged plans or reservations, we found this guide accurate and up-to-date. Few Romanians speak English or other world languages, so it's a bit more of an adventure traveling on the cheap than in most of Europe. You may need to resort to the 2 pages of Romanian words and phrases in the guide. Given the sorry state of the US dollar, Romania is also one of very few European countries which is still relatively inexpensive for Americans.
Here's what a review by K. Hansen on Amazon says: "I decided to learn Romanian because my grandmother was from Romania. She tried to teach me the language before she died, so the learning process has been a personal experience for me. This book has been great because it is very well organized and has really helped me along.
Here's what a review by Erika Mitchell on Amazon says: "This book is an all-around great cookbook. To be honest, I had never heard of Romanian cuisine before and picked up the book on a whim. I'm glad I did because the book introduced me to a delicious culture that I had never sampled before. The recipes in the book are grouped into the following chapters: appetizers, salads, egg dishes, soups, polenta, fish dishes, meat dishes, poultry dishes, vegetable dishes, dumplings, sauces, desserts, wines, preserves, and Jewish dishes. I found good recipes in each chapter, some fancy, and some that can be whipped up in minutes. Interspersed throughout the book are short history lessons about Romania, fairy tales, and poetry, as well as Klepper's comments explaining the cooking culture. The book also includes a bibliography, a place and personal name index, and English recipe index, a Romanian recipe index, a brief pronunciation guide, an English-Romanian-French food dictionary, and even an American-British food dictionary (surprisingly useful!). If you're looking for a Romanian cookbook, this is a great one. And if you're just looking for some interesting and tasty new recipes, you'll find some here."

Romania was one of only four countries (with Brazil, France, and Belgium) to participate in the first three World Cups. Romania had a solid run between 1990 and 2000, advancing to Round 2 or better in three consecutive World Cups. The period was highlighted by the 1994 World Cup, where lead by the terrific Gheorghe Hagi, Romania made the quarterfinals and upset Argentina 3 2! The Romanians also made a splash in Euro 2000, drawing Germany 1 1 and beating England 3 2 to advance past both sides in group play.
Here's what a review by Johny Bottom on Amazon says: "the Sex Pistols, Ramones, Black Flag, and The Dead Kennedys. I have a string of gigs under my belt with various punk bands, a long list of one night stands with rocker chicks, and did enough drugs to make Keith Richards OD. All that changed the night I listened to Zamfir. Alone in my apartment I played this CD while cleaning a puke staine off my carpet. I don't know whose it was, but I'd like to thank him because it led me to my new life. I have since thrown away my guitars, amps, and entire music collection. It is all garbage by comparison to this and in the trash is where it all belongs. "
Here's what a review by Mercedes Alba on Amazon says: "With respect to the reviewers who loved this cd and the one who didn't like it, I must disagree with both sides and cast my vote in the middle. It is neither a great cd nor a bad one. This type of music of the Romani orchestra developed in the 19th century and reached its zenith in the decades prior to WWll in the 20th century. This cd however does not represent the style at its best, but it is still a good example. It lacks the power, brilliance and spirit of the great orchestras of old, notably those of Jean Gulesco, Kalman Emmerich, Grigoras Dinicu, Rozzi Rethy, D' Arpad Kovacs, Bela Berkes, Petrica Marin and Flores Lakatos, to name a few."
