Make sure that, upon entering an exchange office, they don't have a transaction fee, usually 8% of the money you wish to exchange.

The fee is listed to comply with the law but they try their best to make it less visible. Just ask the clerk. Normal exchange offices don't have such a fee.

According to an August 2006 issue of Business Magazin Romania, the average tip in Romania is 10% of the bill.
